Zen meditation class planned at Daifukuji

Daifukuji Soto Mission in Honalo will offer a Zen meditation class from 8-9:30 a.m. Saturday.

National park visitor center closed temporarily

Because of Queen Kaahumanu Highway improvements to Kaloko Honokohau National Historical Park’s visitor center entrance, the visitor center will be closed Monday through July 3. The closure may be extended if necessary

Hawaii Island Landscape Association offers scholarships

The deadline for Hawaii Island Landscape Association’s Vic Paulson scholarships is July 31.

Two $1,000 scholarships are available for students enrolled in any college in the fields of agriculture, landscape or environmental management.

Kona students graduate from Gustavus Adolphus College

Two Kailua-Kona students graduated May 28 from Gustavus Adolphus College in Saint Peter, Minnesota.

John Poblocki graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and computer science. Florence Noholia earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in communication studies.
